Advancing Leadership, Collaboration, Advocacy, and Shared Problem-Solving
The GA-ABSE Superintendent Commission is a statewide leadership body of the Georgia Alliance of Black School Educators created to strengthen engagement among Black superintendents, senior district leaders, and education partners across Georgia.
The Commission exists to support and elevate the leadership of Black superintendents and senior district leaders through leadership development, collaboration, advocacy, and shared problem-solving. Through this work, GA-ABSE seeks to create stronger connections among district leaders who are committed to improving outcomes for Black students, supporting Black educators, and advancing educational excellence across the state.
Purpose of the Superintendent Commission
The purpose of the GA-ABSE Superintendent Commission is to provide a formal structure for superintendent-level engagement, thought partnership, and statewide collaboration.
The Commission is designed to:
- Create a space for Black superintendents and senior district leaders to connect, collaborate, and problem-solve around shared challenges
- Support leadership development for current and aspiring district-level leaders
- Strengthen advocacy around issues impacting Black students, educators, families, and communities
- Promote data-informed strategies that expand opportunity, access, and achievement
- Support GA-ABSE’s statewide priorities, including literacy, professional learning, membership growth, and policy advocacy
- Build stronger partnerships between GA-ABSE, school districts, education organizations, sponsors, and community stakeholders
