Shanequa Yates

Shanequa is a distinguished educator with nearly two decades of experience inside and outside the classroom. As a first-generation college student, she is committed to ensuring that all students receive the academic and social preparation that provides them multiple pathways and opportunities to lead thriving lives. Shanequa began her career as a middle school teacher in Atlanta Public Schools, where she was honored as a semi-finalist for the district’s Teacher of the Year in 2009. Shanequa is a Partner in the Southeast Consulting division at TNTP, leading partnerships in Georgia and Tennessee. In her role, Shanequa provides strategic advisement to state and district leaders in improving academics, strengthening partnerships with the community and families, and building a diverse educator workforce. Shanequa is committed to serving her community, and in 2021, she was elected President of the Neighbors of Gresham Park, a neighborhood association located in DeKalb County, GA. Shanequa is a nationally certified National SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) facilitator, inaugural participant of the Institute for Equity Activism, and facilitator of Equitable Dinners Atlanta. Shanequa earned her B.A. in History from Spelman College and an M.Ed. in Social Studies Education from Georgia State University.
